NY Insurance Company Requiring RRP for Renewal
To be or not to be - RRP Certified
Last year, prior to hosting a few RRP certification training sessions for groups I work with, I contacted the large writer of workers compensation insurance in Colorado and also my insurance broker and asked what impact RRP was to have on WC and GL insurance. At that time, January 2010, both responded that they didn't have an answer. According to an article posted yesterday on the Contractor Coaching Partnership blog, a New York insurance company is requiring EPA RRP Certification for contractors and firms to renew their insurance.
Most contractors know that additional insurance is required to cover the risks of working with Lead and that General Liability and in many cases workers compensation insurance specfically excludes the exposure. GCs have been requiring their subs be RRP Certified companys. Look for property and facility management firms to start requiring same.
